Morupule Coal Mine hands over new home built under Bonno Housing Program

Morupule Coal Mine (MCM), in partnership with the Government of Botswana through the Bonno Housing Program, has handed over a newly built home to a beneficiary family in Serorome ward, Palapye.

During the handover, MCM CEO Edwin Elias disclosed that, “this house has been constructed to the value of P560 000 which part of, are proceeds from the MCM CEO’s Cycle Challenge.”

He further noted that construction work was completed in a record time of two months. “It was built by Goldern Projects, a Palapye based and Motswana-owned company. They were supported by Candela Impressions, who generously donated all the carpentry work in the house.”

The CEO highlighted that the project is motivated by MCM’s ‘Stakeholder Focus’ value. “Stakeholder focus guides everything we do, including caring for the communities where we operate. Today, by handing over this home, we turn that commitment into action, uplifting lives and creating lasting impact where it matters most."

For his part, the Minister of Water and Human Settlement, also the Member of Parliament for Palapye, Honourable Onneetse Ramogapi said “today's handover is a powerful testament to the strength of Public-Private Partnerships.”

The minister expressed that he is proud the house handed over in Palapye adds to the list of the number of houses built under Bonno.
