MORUPULE COAL MINE REACHES ANOTHER MILESTONE – FIRST BLASTING ACTIVITY OF MOTHEO OPEN CAST MINE

We are excited to announce that Motheo Project has reached another significant milestone of conducting the first blasting activity of the currently being developed open cast coal mine, following the Project Groundbreaking Ceremony that was Officiated by His Excellency, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi last year in November 2021.

This activity follows a series of consultations with all stakeholders and the community surrounding the opencast mining operations.

The removal of overburden at the open cast mining area has reached a stage where the use of low energy explosives is now required to further progress the development of the open cast coal mine to expose the first coal.

The development also affirms the multi-faceted growth taking place at Morupule Coal Mine, in support of the Government of Botswana economic diversification drive, through exploiting and monetizing the country vast coal reserves.
