Morupule Coal Mine supports Ministry of Higher Education's vision for unified communication strategy
Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) proudly participated in the Ministry of Higher Education’s Communication Strategy Validation Workshop, held under the compelling theme “Elevating Botswana’s Tertiary Education Narrative Through Strategic PR & Purposeful Communication.”
The workshop brought together public relations professionals, senior officials and communication experts from across government departments and parastatals to align organisational strategies with impactful internal and external communication.
Delivering the keynote address, Honourable Prince Maele, Minister of Higher Education, lauded the initiative as a timely intervention. “This workshop represents more than just an event, it is the embodiment of our commitment to effective communication,” he stated. The Minister highlighted the importance of collaboration across ministries and state-owned enterprises (SOEs), stressing that unified communication efforts are key to transforming Botswana’s higher education landscape and ensuring equitable access to quality, globally recognised qualifications.
Representing MCM, the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Edwin Elias delivered a stirring motivational talk, positioning communication as a cornerstone of business and societal transformation. “At Morupule Coal Mine, PR is more than messaging, it’s a catalyst for culture change, a driver of trust and a strategic enabler of progress,” he said.
Mr. Elias underlined the vital role of public relations professionals as nation-builders, particularly in the education sector. “They are the voice that highlights innovation, demystifies policy and celebrates progress fueling Vision 2036 and socio-economic transformation,” he added. Urging attendees to take ownership of Botswana’s narrative, he posed a powerful challenge: “If you don’t tell our story, who will?”
Morupule Coal Mine’s participation underscored its unwavering commitment to purposeful communication as a lever for national development, reinforcing its role in shaping Botswana’s future.
