Harnessing Africa's Mineral Wealth for Incusive Growth and the Green Economy

Nelson Nareetsile, the Head of Beneficiation at MCM, attended the prestigious International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) Conference. The event, titled ‘𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮, focused on the theme,

𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖'𝙨 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙀𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙮”.

 

Speakers from across the African continent gathered to share their insights, and the conference was officially opened by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr. Mokgweetsi Keabetswe Eric Masisi, who delivered the keynote address.

Nelson Nareetsile actively participated in a panel discussion on Enhancing Community Benefits in Mineral Resource Governance.

 

He addressed crucial topics such as:

 

🔹Effective models of community beneficiation in various jurisdictions.

🔹 Active community involvement in decision-making processes related to mineral governance.

🔹 Best practices for grievance redress mechanisms in mining communities.

 

The conference showcased the importance of good natural resource governance, highlighting how governments can extract, use, and distribute resources for the benefit of current and future generations.
