Newly appointed board chairman commends MCM on safety and excellence

Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) welcomed its newly appointed Board Chairman, Mr. Patrick Boitumelo, for his first official visit, where he toured the underground operations, plant, and opencast areas. During his visit, Mr. Boitumelo applauded MCM’s exceptional safety practices, operational discipline, and high employee morale. In a session with the Executive Committee (EXCO), he praised the mine’s world-class safety culture and commitment to maintaining excellent housekeeping standards, which he described as a reflection of the team’s professionalism and attention to detail. He also commended the strong collaboration and mutual respect among the leadership team as critical drivers of MCM’s success.

Mr. Boitumelo outlined his vision for the mine, focusing on safety, sustainability, innovation, and operational discipline to ensure continued growth and competitiveness. He encouraged the team to build on its strong safety record, embrace environmentally sustainable practices, and adopt innovative approaches to enhance efficiency. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of streamlined operations, urging a focus on “doing less to get more” while maximising value.
