MCM Champions SME growth at World Accreditation Day 2025

Morupule Coal Mine proudly participated in the World Accreditation Day 2025 Commemoration held in Serowe, under the theme “Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)”.

The event was officially officiated by the Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Hon. Tiroeaone Ntsima, who emphasized the importance of accreditation in enhancing SME competitiveness and enabling access to regional and international markets.

At our interactive exhibit, we showcased coal samples and guided attendees through the processes within our ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory, demonstrating how we test, certify, and ensure product quality. The exhibit highlighted the critical role of standardised testing in building trust, supporting trade readiness, and reducing export barriers.

A standout moment was a powerful presentation by our Metallurgy Manager, Mr. Keabetswe Motsumi, titled “The Role of Testing Laboratories in Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)”. He used real-world case studies to show how accredited lab testing lowers costs, improves product reliability, and supports SME growth into global markets.
