Morupule Coal Mine speaks at Women in Mining Pitso 2024

The Women in Mining Botswana Organization (WiMBO) proudly hosted its 2nd annual Pitso from August 22-23, 2024, at Grand Aria, Gaborone! With the theme "Mining Beyond Gender: Fostering Equality and Inclusion in the Mining and Energy Industry," the event was a resounding success, bringing together a diverse group of women and leaders.

The event was honoured by the presence of the Minister of Minerals and Energy, Honourable Lefoko Moagi and delegates from mining businesses and sister organizations across the SADC region. A special highlight was MCM Plant Manager Kesaobaka Keabetswe’s inspiring keynote, where she shared her journey as a plant manager, urging all to break barriers and strive for greatness.

The Pitso provided a platform for meaningful discussions on diversity, inclusion, and the impact of mining on public health issues like tuberculosis in Botswana. It was a powerful gathering of voices committed to driving positive change and fostering a more inclusive industry.
