Community Therisanyo at Morupule Coal Mine
Our CEO, Mr. Edwin Elias met with various MCM stakeholders to deliver a Business Update to them. Local leadership, Business community, Government officials, Local authorities and more were in attendance. This business update driven under our Social Performance appraises our external stakeholders on: Business Performance, Safety, Socio-Economic Development strides and more. Attendees had an opportunity to engage in dialogue regarding their vested interests in MCM operations through this annual event.
In the Socio-Economic Development update under Corporate Social Investment, Mr. Elias shared the exciting news about a Solar project being unveiled at the end of the morning’s programme. The 2023 CEO’s Annual Charity Cycle Challenge proceeds have been channelled towards installing a solar system at a vulnerable people’s facility in Palapye. Cheshire Foundation will significantly reduce its electricity bill through this new long-term development.
This project which was delivered with key partners and sponsors of the annual MCM Cycling Club at the tune of P300,000.00 also realizes Botswana’s green energy efforts towards sustainable development.
MCM remains committed to maintaining its social license to operate through platforms such as the Community Therisanyo. Our goal of being a partner of choice in the global coal transition is also realized through sustainable initiatives such as the Solar system installation project at Cheshire.
