AN EVENTFUL DAY FOR MCM AT THE ONGOING U.S.-AFRICA BUSINESS SUMMIT

Heads of States from 5 African countries, international industry captains, trade experts and the business community converged at Royal Aria Convention Centre in Tlokweng on a freezing Wednesday 12th July morning for the U.S. Africa Business Summit. The theme for this year’s summit is; enhancing Africa’s value in global value chains.

When officiating the event, His Excellency, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi addressed the multitudes of attendants of this high profile international summit that; "To create an inclusive economy, we need more private sector involvement to drive value chain development in major industries ranging from mining, tourism, agriculture, and education".

Remarks of the President and this year’s theme echo MCM’s vision of being a partner of choice in the global coal transition. After 50 years of being the primary source of energy through coal production for the nation of Botswana, our company has cemented itself as an integral part of our country’s economic growth. We have seen immense transformation of different key sectors in the economic landscape including Agriculture, Education, Health and the Mining industry which has been the backbone of our economy for decades.

MCM’s presence at the summit which is planned to end on Friday 14th July 2023, is very strategic for our business.
