The theme for this year’s summit is; enhancing Africa’s value in global value chains.
When officiating the event, His Excellency, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi addressed the multitudes of attendants of this high profile international summit that; "To create an inclusive economy, we need more private sector involvement to drive value chain development in major industries ranging from mining, tourism, agriculture, and education".
Remarks of the President and this year’s theme echo MCM’s vision of being a partner of choice in the global coal transition. After 50 years of being the primary source of energy through coal production for the nation of Botswana, our company has cemented itself as an integral part of our country’s economic growth. We have seen immense transformation of different key sectors in the economic landscape including Agriculture, Education, Health and the Mining industry which has been the backbone of our economy for decades.
MCM’s presence at the summit which is planned to end on Friday 14th July 2023, is very strategic for our business. The networking opportunities at this international summit which is happening here at home will help us in realizing our corporate strategy’s ambitions of creating value through: Citizen Economic Empowerment and Inclusion, expanding our international market footprint to triple our revenue, as well as in diversifying our product offer in an innovative and optimized way to be responsive to climate action amongst others.
