MCM challenges BUIST student to connect physics with real-world mining

Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) has challenged Physics and Astronomy students at BIUST to look beyond the classroom and explore how their knowledge can solve real-world challenges in the mining industry.

Speaking at the inaugural Department of Physics and Astronomy Open Day recently, MCM Strategy and Projects Manager Botlhe Mokgethi encouraged students to turn academic knowledge into practical solutions that create value.

She also highlighted the importance of communication, teamwork, adaptability and continuous learning alongside technical qualifications.

MCM’s participation supports stronger university-industry collaboration and greater awareness of technical career pathways within Botswana’s mining sector.
