Mining Indaba: Coal in the Mother City

February, 3rd 2025 ushered in the highly anticipated 2025 Mining Indaba in the vibrant Mother City, setting the stage for discussions around the future of mining and energy.

During the opening ceremony, South Africa's Minister of Minerals and Petroleum Resources, Gwede Mantashe, delivered a compelling address that underscored the enduring importance of 'King Coal' within the mining sector.

His remarks perfectly aligned with MCM's vision of becoming the partner of choice in the global coal transition, reinforcing our steadfast commitment to this vital resource.

Later in the day, MCM's CEO, Edwin Elias, echoed this sentiment, asserting that coal remains a strategic asset and a cornerstone for Botswana's economic foundation.

He emphasised the critical role of MCM’s active involvement in the Indaba, highlighting our innovative solutions and initiatives aimed at advancing the coal industry. Throughout the conference, Edwin is scheduled for key engagements designed to showcase MCM’s offerings and thought leadership.

In addition to Edwin, the dedicated MCM team is on-site, representing the MCM brand and fostering meaningful connections with industry leaders and stakeholders. The team is also under the guidance and support of MCM Board Member, Mboko Modie.
