The Construction of Underground Ventilation Walls, Slabs, Explosion Proof Walls and Air Crossings – (MOR-FEB-2024-ENQ-001)
Ventilation walls/stoppings are simply air walls made of masonry, concrete blocks or any other material used to channel airflow for effective air distribution. Depending on the size of mining entries/width and height, stopping are constructed at an average area of 4.2mX7.2m. Slabs are constructed to position new section belt drives as well as conveyor tail ends. Explosion proof walls are constructed to seal off mined out sections.
Details of SoW/ Specifications
· To build explosion proof walls
· To build approximately 126m return walls monthly, in the splits adjacent to both the intake and return airways an average area of 4.2m X 7.2m.
· To build air crossings
· To construct approximately 20m slab monthly (20.0m X 7.2m X 0.15m)
· To neatly stack the bricks in heaps of not more than 1.0m high.
· To examine the roof and sides and make safe.
· To ensure that building materials are on site and correct scaffolding is available for use.
· To grout a brick wall with concrete (every brick course) for sealed off areas.
· To provide 3 people who will be paid on labour rates, who will be responsible for installing brattices where the walls will be built at a later stage.
· To provide 2 people who will be paid on labour rates, who will be responsible for cleaning 3 refuge bays per week, underground signs and maintain lifeline.
To Participate in this tender, bidders are not required to be registered in Morupule Coal Mine Supplier Database.

Site Visit
The site visit shall take place on 27 February 2024 at 08:30hours. It is a pre-requisite that bidders attend a site visit to familiarize themselves with the site, the scope of the services and the environmental conditions under which the services are to be performed. Representatives attending the site visit are required to arrange their own transport, accommodation and protective clothing, i.e. hard hat, steel-toed boots, reflective vest, trousers and long-sleeved shirts).

The closing date for the receipt of tender submissions shall be 12 March 2024 at 12:00 noon. Tenders received after the closing date and time will not be considered.
Telegraphic, telephonic, telex, facsimile or emailed submissions other than the one stated above will not be considered. Morupule Coal Mine reserves the right to reject or accept any submission and does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any portion of any tender. Acceptance thereof is not binding on the company until confirmed through official notification.
